My cub scout is a bear and is trying to earn his emblem of faith. Does anyone know where or how to get the book needed for him to study. We are of Methodist denomination and our council only has a book for Catholic. Any ideas?
Thanks!

I am surprised that your council only carries the Catholic books. Most carry both Catholic & the God & Country series (which you need). If your council, or your church does not have them, you can order them from PRAY Publishing. Once your son completes his workbook & has it signed off & approved, you will also order his emblem from PRAY.

They also have info on other religious emblems.

I am not very suprised that councils carry only one specific denomination of the religious emblem awards workbooks... It's really quite sad that councils do this... even if the the largest denomination in the community is the most dominant in scouting.
The scouting interfaith advises us to be sensitive to others of different faiths and respect those that do not follow our beliefs. Even the God & Country series is faulty at this respect. This is the reason why most denominations and faiths have developed their own versions specifically geared to their church.
This site gives more information about the religious emblems program... http://www.scouting.org/awards/religious/faq.html .
This site gives more detailed about which religious organizations are participants in the religious emblems program... http://www.scouting.org/awards/religious/awards/index.html .
Hope this helps everyone.

Thanks for the links to obtain the information on the Awards. I also find it troublesome the council did not have the information either readily available to you or somewhere you can locate it. However, we must remember that the Religious Awards are not BSA awards, they are the Churches awards which are recognized by the BSA.

scoutparentkathy,
FYI: "The National Association of United Methodist Scouters (NAUMS) is a leading provider of resources for Scouting Youth-Serving Ministry. NAUMS provides original content and links to key Internet resources"... (including links to http://www.praypub.org/, which Nuts4Scouts already noted.).

One of the awards not listed there is the International Catholic Awareness Medal. It is fairly easy to earn and all catholic scouts and scouters can earn this award.
Anyone that might be interested should go to the National Catholic Committee on Scouting web site.

Most christian book stores should have the books you are looking for or should be able to order the books.
