One of the best kept secrets in Scouting, a a part of Veturing is Sea Scouting.

A part of the BSAsince 1912 it accounts I am told for about 2% of the BSA membership and yet it is the adventuresome program in the BSA.

If you are a parent of a 14 to 20 year old young man or woman you could help your community develop an awesome program. Do you have a knowledge of any type of boating or water related activity? Do you have access to a usable body or water? Do you belong to a SCUBA, or boat club? Do you know people with any of these resources? How are you at talking people into donating their boats rather than selling them:)!? Are you former Navy or Coast Guard?

Any of these characteristics would make you invaluable to a Sea Scout Ship.
Uniforms...Traditions...Adventure...Leadership... Sea Scouting has it all.

Call your local scout office about the local Sea Scout program or to start one. It is the most fun my son has ever had in scouting.

It's actually not an official BSA site according to its own documentation but it is an extremly good site that the BSA National Commodore contributes to.
