Hey Everyone it's me again. I have had a great time with my son and a few other kids and parents this past year.We have gone to a lot of places and the kids have recieved several patches. The latest patch is the Leave no trace behind. My son asked me where to put his new patch, but I wasn't sure. I've looked everywhere but I can not find anything about placement. The patch is a diamond shape without a loop at the top. thanks for the help, michael

As with all temporary patches this would go on the right breast uniform shirt pocket. The loop allows you to attach it to the pocket button rather than sew it on or use a plastic badge holder.
Although it does not show this specific activity recognition you can find the insignia display positions and uniforming rules in the BSA's Insignia Guide #33066 available on line at www.scoutstuff.org, or at your local scout shop or council service center.

Does your Pack use the red patch vest? These vests are sold at your council Scout Shop, but can be made at home easily enough. All of your son's temporary, non-uniform, and fun patches can go on this vest.
Some folks like to use a patch blanket, sweat shirt, or jacket instead.

Vests are quite easy to make with red felt from your favorite fabric store as well. If you have a few parents with sewing machines, it takes about 5 minutes to transfer the pattern, and 10 minutes to sew and cut! It works out to be about 3-5 dollars per vest depending on how many you make.

I don't much care for the Vests as they seem really flemsey, I would suggest sewing them onto the back of the Light Wind breaker sold by the scoutsJackets from Scoutstuff.org (http://scoutstuff.org/BSASupply/default.aspx?ctgy=PRODUCTS&C2=APPAREL&C3=JACKETS&C4=&LV=3).

Specific patches go in specific places on the offical jackets. They are not meant for mass display of temporary patches the way the red vest is. See page 4 of the current Insignia Guide for the correct wearing of the official jackets. Other options would be a patch blanket, or shadow box.
Boy Scouts can also use the back of the merit badge sash to display multiple temporary patches.

Speaking of merit badge sashes, they are never to be worn hanging in the belt.
