What are your major challenges as a professional?
Not enough people to get the job done!
If parents understood how much Scouting made a positive impact on the family as well as their child, would they be more willing to help their Child's unit?
You have heard the saying "many hands make light work". This is the perfect venue to explain that if all parents participated in thier child's Scouting experience, then no one individual would be tasked with an unbearable task.
Another challenge - I need to grow my family FOS!
If you showed me a program that made a difference in my child's life, a program that helped me relate to my child in a way I could never have done before, I would write you a check when asked. Today's parent are willing to "tote the note" for things that make a difference and has quality.
Another challenge - I have to fix a problem with this unit and they might not recharter!
Units with strong unit committees have fewer problems and always recharter, mostly on time without a loss in members. This is a DE's dream. ScoutParents will help grow the unit committee and address many of the challenges before they arrive at your or the Unit Commissioner's door step.

Bottom Line - This is an initaitive that you need to take a hard look at. No serious money involved, just getting parents to register as Scouters and a little gentle education about something that they are vitally concerned about - thier child!

I was inpressed with the presentation at the National Meeting. Good Job on getting something into the field so quickly.

I think the idea is great. we need to assist scout families to understand the program with out having to speak scouting right off the start.

I will look forward to more information. we would like to include as a link for our council web page when you feel you are ready.

The site is clean, professional looking. I know my volunteers already rely on similar tools like Scouts-L and Yahoo Groups, etc. Getting them to try this won't be hard, but they are going to want content. The information found here will be much more accurate, but there isn't much of it yet. Who moderates the forums? What's the response time? Are they prepared to keep up with the load as the site takes off?

If the site fills out like it looks like it will, I'll tag the URL onto every Welcome to Cub Scouts handout given out at every Joining Night.
