Hi everyone...
I will be attending a Court of Honor Eagle ceremony for our senior patrol leader. I'm a committee member and my son will be helping with the flag ceremony. I'm curious, since I've never been to this kind of COH, is it traditional to bring a gift for the new Eagle Scout? What else is traditional? I am getting my new uniform shirt <I never replaced my Cub Scout yellow shirt last year> so, I have that going already. I just didn't want to be the only one to show up and everyone had gotten him something but me. I hate being unprepared for something I don't know much about. I've only seen one other COH and that was the one that welcomed all my Webelos over to the Troop. :)

Thanks ahead of time

Hi Jenny:

A small gift is a nice idea if you've known the young man in question for a while. As a general rule, however, those invited to an Eagle COH are not expected to bring a gift. Usually the gifts are covered by the Scout's parents, or perhaps one group gift given by the troop.

I agree. If it is a boy whom I have known or work with for a while I will bring a small gift.

You guys are super! Thank you. I haven't known Allen long, but he's a nice kid. Guess this is why I didn't find a "Your an Eagle Scout now" card.

You might want to ask the Scoutmaster or the mother of another Scout whose been in the troop a while your question. Different units have different customs regarding gifts to the Eagle Scout.

If I get invited to an Eagle Scout Court of Honor and I do not really know the scout very well, I usually bring a copy, printed on cardstock, of Baden Powell's last message to the scouts.
I then let the scout decide if he wants to frame the speech or not.
If it is someone that I do know fairly well then I will ask the parent's if there is something the scout wants or likes in specific.

Where can I find B.P.'s last message to the Scouts?
