I was just searching the Scouting files on my computer and came across this little gem I did not even know I had. It is a 30 second BSA commercial for Cub Scouting from 2003(?). I wish I would have found this a couple weeks ago. I might have been able to use it to promote Cub Scouting in the community.
Check it out and see what you think of it.

I think that both of the commicals you found are great ways to recuit boys for cub scouts. I just wished we could have them on T.V. since most of the children now days spend most of their time in front of the T.V. and we could get them out and involved in more things.

These are great! Anyone know were they came from? Before you can remotely convince a TV station to run them, they must have permission from whomever created or liscensed it.
This would be great for that new Scouting Show on the Outdoor channel!

I really like these spots.
I find that the using commercials to promote scouting is one of the best (and little used) recruiting tools out there.
In Australia they have used the theme "Get a life, Join scouting!"
In Canada they have a wonderful commercial on scouting...
The spot opens on the waterfront of a lake showing kids swimming and diving off a dock where one boy says it's my turn and he executes a dive and resurfaces to discover his trunks are floating next to him.
The voice over says, if you would have joined scouting; you would have learned to tie knots...eventually.
It is then followed by the Scout Canada web address.
It is a well done commerical.
We need to do advertisements like that here and more often.

I think these commercials are great, however my Webelo 1 son thinks that they are "dorky". Our council used one of them this year for our School Night for Scouting roundup. It was to be played during the morning announcements at school the week leading up to our recruitment night. I wish I had saved a copy to play during all recruitments as I think that these show in a short clip what we do in Cub Scouts. I also wish that these were played on TV .
