This deal seems like a very good deal for scouters all over the USA... Has anyone taken advantage of this deal? Tell us your thoughts.

Most KOA's that I have seen are more like parking lots with a few twigs stuck in the ground. Not my idea of camping.
There also seems to be a limited number of them that do the Scout program. I might stop in to look at the few that are around Chicago if I ever get in their vicinity. I most certainly am not reserving anything without checking the facilities out first. I don't want my scouts stuck on a pad under a twig!

I believe the founder of KOA is an Eagle Scout. From the KOA campgrounds I have seen, they didn’t seem too appealing for tent camping. They might work also for some outdoors events you might need a pavilion for some areas that don’t have any facilities close. That’s just my opinion. However, it might be a great place to stop to spend the night on some of those long trips your units might take.

I should have checked the link to KOA before I posted the comment. Not only is he an Eagle Scout but a Distinguished Eagle Recipient. He also is a Vice President in the Western Region.

The KOA near me offers the program (according to the website) This particular KOA is more than just a parking lot with twigs. It is huge with a activity park featuring mini golf, bumper boats and many other things.
This could be a fun weekend for Cub families.

HI Leaders,
I am a Bear Den Leader in Oshkosh, WI, Bay Lakes Council, Wisconsin BSA Michigan. I really don't know if this is any help, but Camp Rokilio has been our Packs 3607 favorite place to camp for years. They do follow the BSA program at the Cub Scout level but there is a Boy Scout Camp just across the Lake.
They have themed areas for the boys to stay including a Frontier Fort (complete with watch towers), a space station, a Viking Ship, a Medeival Castle and a Gold Miners village (tents onl) for the 5th grade Weeblos.
The Staff is excellent, made up of Eagle Scoutas & Venturers. Boats, Archery, BB range and more. Also we were able to achieve the AWASA award presented to us by a fully costumed Native American Chief and one of his Warriors.
A great tmie was had by all. I hope this information is helpful to someone, if not, good luck!

Camp Rokilio is a Cub Scout World and one of Bay-Lakes Council's camp properties. I think a Cub World would beat a KOA campground hands down any day!
My council is in the process of building a Cub World in a joint venture with a neighboring council. It is a slow process. We have a nice new shower/bathroom area. Next is some new roads. I'm hoping they get busy and put the lake in by summer! Unfortunately, I think it might be more like 2 years down the line.
