If you are refering to what I think you are it really isn't a ceremony it is more of a Scoutmaster's minute, and not a real good one. For while it says that the few years you have in scouting will affect the rest of your life it doesn't say 'how it will' or 'why it will' only that 'it will'.
There are much better cremonies for explaining the value of scouting available in the "Staging Den and Pack Ceremonies" book and the "Troop Program Resources" book.

This is really neither a Scoutmasters, or in this case - Cubmaster's, minute, or a ceremony. It is a tool (basically a skit) used by some Packs to generate parental volunteering.

Also look at 3 ceremonies on pages 64 and 65 of the BSA's Staging Den and Pack Ceremonies book. "This is Cub Scouting", "Parents Participation Promise", and "Akela's Scale" for ceremonies that tell parents of the importance of their participation in the Pack and Den.
