I know. I know. And I did have my computer backed up but that was a month ago in February.
I am now trying to bring Scout files back up to date. I am working during my district recharter and still trying to get all the 2008 Centennial Quality Unit forms in and my current files went. I don't even count the personal files in this.
So Scouters, Unit Leaders - keep your files up to date with a back up. I can rebuild my files (given time) but can you get your Scouts' records and unit record's back if your hard drive goes down? Don't do that to the boys.
Enough said (at least my me).

Thanks for the reminder!! Typically it is only thought of at the time your computer crashes. I know of many who have “been there, done that and got the t-shirt”.

I'm sorry that this had to be a reactive reminder. :( But, very true. Thumb Drives (portable data storage the size of your thumb that plugs into a USB port); are going down in price and their storage capacity is ever increasing. Those are great tools to keep your scout files on, plus you can even carry it on your key ring or in your carry-all incase you're at a meeting and someone could use a file you may have and there's a laptop or PC near by to data-swap.

I remember the days of trying to run off of a floppy disk and winZip'ing everything.

I hope you're able to recover a month's work soon. :) And, thanks for reminding us procrastinators, too. :)
