Collecting Used Cell Phones (Fundraiser)

Anyone had any success with collecting used cell phones and having a company provide a free shipping label then mailing the unit a check?

I actually used a vendor at work with all of our used cell phones, and we were able to recoup some funds.

I brought it up to my unit, and it was well received, but haven't addressed it with our CO, district, or Council for approval, yet.

Anyone had any experience with this? I guess I'm looking for a warm fuzzy before I convince the unit committee to move forward on a request.

There was an outreach program in our council that did do it. They were able to raise several hundred dollars with it.

Our fundraiser was a bust. We collected 37 phones and received $5.50. We plan to do it again in the fall with more active canvassing, plus earmarking the revenue for Little Sioux may help.
