Need help! 4th of July Parade ideas

Hi there!

Our pack always participates in our local 4th of July parade as one of our summertime activities for July. This year we can't find a trailer for the boys to ride on and I can't come up with anything interesting for transportation.

They could walk, the parade isn't too long. But what would they do while they walk? We aren't allowed to hand out candy. They could take turns carrying the banner and the flags. But that would be really boring if that was all we did.

We could probably find a small trailer to use if we wanted to build something that would relate to cub scouts and also be patriotic that they could at least walk next to.

Does anyone have any ideas? I need 'em fast since we are only 9 days away from the 4th.

How about everyone on bikes decorated red/white/blue?

Think up some chants based on your Pack's and your den's numbers (Pack 22 has lots of fun - Cause our leaders are #1) (We're Den 11 and we're the best - Better than all the rest). You can do these while you walk.

Do some silly Scout songs while you walk (If I weren't a Cub Scout a ____ I'd be).

Get some wagons and decorate them. Maybe with a mini camp scene, a campfire, or a Pinewood Derby Car.

Make individual Cubmobile cars out of cardboard boxes for the boys to wear. Have them make engine sounds and have mini races between 2-3 boys at a time as you walk along the route.

Do run-on jokes with each other, and the parade watchers, as you go.

We were able to find a trailer at the last minute which was a really good thing. I don't think anyone would have made it walking in the heat! Another parent brought some 4th of July decorations and I brought what was left from last year's parade.

I am definitely keeping your ideas in mind for next year. With a little preplanning I think we could definitely make some of them happen!
