Catching a snowflake

In the Cub Scout Leader How To Book there is a description for catching a snowflake using a chilled piece of glass and chilled hairspray. I tried this and couldn't get it to work, does anyone know how to do this?

Put the flake on a microscope slide or in a petri dish, then quickly cover it with superglue. The glue with preserve the shape of the snowflake.

I know it's sort of late for this year, but maybe it will help next year!
